History
The Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was founded
in 1984 by a group of dedicated leaders as they realized the
enormous potential of the US Hispanic business community and the
need for a local organization to represent their interests and
fulfill their needs through the public and private sector. This
small group held the Chamber together during its infancy and laid
the foundation for subsequent leaders of the Hispanic community to
carry on the endeavor of bringing the issues and concerns of the
growing numbers of Hispanic entrepreneurs to the forefront of
Georgia's economic agenda.
The Chamber was formally incorporated in March of
1991, as a nonprofit organization, and received the Internal Revenue
designation under section 501(c)(6) in 1993. Afterward, the GHCC was
legally recognized as the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
In order to expand its involvement with the
community and to respond to the needs for academic training and
technical assistance of the rising number of Hispanics, the Georgia
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce established its charitable foundation
in 1993, under a separate charter with an Internal Revenue
designation of 501(c)(3). Afterward, the Foundation was legally
recognized as the Georgia Hispanic Chamber Foundation, Inc. The
Foundation provides educational services, internships and
scholarships to Hispanics to enhance and or pursue higher education.
Programs like these equip Hispanics with the skills necessary to
obtain greater opportunities and to enhance their chances for
success.
The Chamber's growth has mirrored the growth of the
Hispanic entrepreneur in the state of Georgia. Throughout the years,
as Hispanic businesses have grown and diversified, so have the
programs of the Hispanic Chamber. Through its network of business
organizations, the GHCC has been able to effectively communicate to
Corporate America, the needs and potential of Hispanic
enterprises.
Through our commitment, experience, and expertise
Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has established a business
relationship with our customers that will last a
lifetime!
